Synergy
According to Mr. Sean Covey, author of “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens,” synergy is a key to success. I don’t remember the ins-and-outs of the lesson from 12th grade Life Choices, but it all boiled down to this idea:
Synergy means that 2 + 2 = 5.
What the heck? I’m not a math major or anything, but that definitely defies every addition principle I was ever taught. But finally, after 2 years of contemplation and confusion, I have witnessed synergy.
In the form of food, of course!
Individually, brie, basil pesto, sundried tomatoes, and toasted bread are all great. Those are seriously some of my favorite foods.
But this is where the synergy comes into play. When you combine these ingredients to create an entirely new appetizer, miracles happen! Taste buds explode! Boundaries are crossed and limits are exceeded!
So that’s it. Synergy. When individuals (or ingredients) are great by themselves but work together to combine and make something truly extraordinary.

If only everything in life was as simple as topping a wheel of brie with 1/2 cup basil pesto and 1/3 cup chopped sundried tomatoes.
